George Rogers made huge contributions to New Zealand gliding at all levels. He was one of 11 pilots to be honoured by Gliding NZ with Life Membership. In his recent years George dedicated much of his time to helping young pilots of the Wellington Gliding Club gain their qualifications in both flying and engineering, a task he performed with dedication and passion. George sadly passed away shortly prior to labour weekend 2018. In honour of his memory our annual Greytown Youth Glide Mini Camp is now known as The George Rogers Memorial – Greytown Mini Camp.
The camp will begin on Friday the 23rd of October at 5pm and finish on Monday the 26th of October (afternoon). Accommodation will be camping onsite utilizing vacant caravans and pitching tents in the clubs camping area. Accommodation and food will be included in the camp deposit which must be paid prior to the camp (deposit announced once camp numbers are finalised).
At this stage, we are trying to get an understanding of those available to attend. If you are interested, please complete the registration form and send it through to James Mitchell email@example.com before Sunday the 20th of September. More information on the camp will be sent once numbers are finalised.
We hope that all young students from the Wellington Gliding Club, Gliding Wairarapa, and neighbouring Gliding Clubs are available to join us for the 2020 mini camp. If you require assistance with transport let us know and we may be able to help.
If parents or club members would like to support the camp, whether it’s helping out in the kitchen, instructing, or helping with daily operations, please let me know as we would greatly appreciate it.
Send registration forms to firstname.lastname@example.org before Sunday the 20th of September.
Please note: Completion of registration does not guarantee you a place on the camp. You will be notified when offered a place on the camp and when offered, you may choose to withdraw your application if you no longer wish to attend the camp.
